My Favourite Place

Everyone has a favourite place.  This is mine.  I can go there on my lunch break, and be filled with calmness and joy.  I can walk and explore, or just sit down and take it all in.

The sound of the trees swaying in the wind, and the branches crunching together.  The pine aroma that fills the air, and the scent of the fallen leaves slowly decaying.  Seeing the once lush and full forest, grey and barren once again.  Feeling the warm golden sunshine, peeking through the treetops.

This is my favourite place.

these are so beautiful…. and i’m calmer now too :)

One can feel the serenity from your images Krista. Beautiful work.

A very nice series of shots.
I have a a few places that are ‘my favourite place’ to walk. It depends on the mood and time of year.

Vulnerable

Exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.

Life.  Work.  Family.  Friends.

It is tough when you expose your weakest spots.  Lately, I feel like all of mine are showing.

I know the feeling. But nice portrait.

Sisters

I was almost 10 when Leah was born, and as a result we haven’t always had the strongest sister relationship.  Our lives have always been in very different places.

When I was a teenager, she was just a kid.  I had Connor when I was 20, and was out on my own.  I was pretty consumed by my own life.  I missed her growing up, while I watched Connor grow.  By the time she had Rylie, I had moved away and the distance kept us apart.

Add to that, the two of us are perhaps two of the most stubborn women in the entire world.

In the recent weeks, we have had the chance to bond, like sisters should.  We have spent some time together, and got to know each other better.  In fact, it is shocking to find out how similar we really are.

Saturday, she was my date to the my Christmas Party.  Who would have guessed we would have so much fun together?

This is one of my favourite pictures from the night.  I love the smiles and the glam.  So girly.

A Love Story

This isn’t your typical kind of love story.  It is about a girl and her Dad.

I met Chad a few years back, right after my little sister had Rylie.  They were friends, and they started dating around the time she was born.  Rylie’s father had left, and my sister was on her own.

He became a part of Rylie’s life.  He fell in love with her, and made her his own.  Even after my sister and him separated, he chose to continue being her Dad.

On Sunday, at Rylie’s birthday party, I saw Chad for the first time in several years.  He came with his fiance, and her son, for his daughters birthday.  I wanted to tell him how proud I was of him, and what an amazing person he is.  I wanted to hug him, and thank him for being so strong.  Thank him for everything he has done for both my sister and my niece.

Love can make ordinary people do extraordinary things.
