Leave it to my family. Friday August 17 was the craziest day. EVER!
I knew it was going to be busy, because my sister’s wedding was Friday night in Ottawa. It meant packing, travelling, and getting ready for the wedding.
Weddings are chaotic enough. Add to that a brand new baby too. Yup, my brother’s little boy was born at 2:48 Friday morning. We had been waiting for the little guy since Tuesday, but he came at his own pace.
So, here is how my Friday shaped up…
2:48am After a LONG day packing and getting ready for the wedding and waiting for baby updates, the phone rings. Wakes me up. I just miss the call. No message. Was from my Mom, so I figure baby news. I try unsuccessfully for the next little while to find out what is going on.
3:50am I don’t know the exact time, but it was close. I finally get a text message me know Jaxon has arrived. I’m sure it was just a fluke, but Mom’s call was at 2:48am… The exact time he was born. I read the message and went back to sleep.
6:00am My day starts. An hour behind already, but I needed the sleep. Everyone has to get up, get showered. The car has to get packed, and we have to get on the road. Hoping to stop and see the new nephew in Oshawa while we are going through to Ottawa.
7:30am And, we are off. FINALLY. An hour and a half late, but still en route. Still hoping to see the baby while we are on our way.
9:00am Driving through Oshawa, and trying to get ahold of my Mom or brother. Not much luck, because they are all sleeping. Just as we pass though, we get word to meet my brother at the hospital. Although visiting hours are not until 11am, he is going to smuggle us in. So, about turn and back into Oshawa to meet Jaxon.
10:00am At the hospital meeting Jaxon. What a special moment. Meeting my brother’s son.

11:14am Back in the car and on the road. We have to be in Ottawa for the wedding. Starts at 7pm and there is at least four hours of driving still.
1:30pm Stop in Belleville for lunch.
3:31pm Finally in Ottawa! Passed the city limits.
4:00pm Or so… Check into the hotel, have some downtime. Relax before sister’s wedding.
5:30pm Start the process of getting ready. Shower, hair, makeup. Dress the kids. Figure out where we are going.
7:00pm Arrive at wedding reception. Begin the party. Big Fat Indian Wedding.
12:30am Wrap up, say goodbyes. Get picture with Kari. Head back to hotel.

1:00am Boys are in bed, and I am finally too.
A new baby and a wedding in the same day, all while travelling across Ontario, is a recipe for CRAZY!

a day you’ll remember, with lots of laughter!!
My goodness, what a busy, and wonderful day for you!
