Patrick and Diana’s Wedding

Last Friday September 2, 2011 my baby brother Patrick got married.  You might remember the shots from an engagement shoot I did with him and Diana last September.

The ceremony was scheduled to be outside in a pretty little garden at 5:00pm.  Right up until 4:30pm the weather was lovely.

And then, the rain started.

Patrick stayed optimistic and decided to wait it out.  He waited right until 4:55 or so, and then decided the ceremony needed to move inside.

It was so disappointing to watch.  Tables moved inside, and so did the speaker system.  Patrick was crushed, and so was Diana who was patiently waiting it out, in the bridal suite.

Then, at about 5:10 the rain stopped.  Quickly, everything was moved back outside.  The seats were dried off, and everyone prepared to move outside for the ceremony.

And, that was when the rain started again.  This time there was thunder too.  In a move that can only be described as love, Patrick made the decision to continue and have their wedding outside in the rain.

“If she wants an outdoor wedding, she is going to get an outdoor wedding, damn it!”

Guests gathered umbrellas from their cars to keep the bride dry, and slowly moved out to the garden and everyone took their places.  The ceremony was beautiful and the rain eased to just a drizzle.  And as the new Mr. and Mrs. Carde walked into the reception hall the sky opened up and showered on all of the guests.

Although I was not the wedding photographer, I took so many shots that my two memory cards proved to be too small for my needs.  I caught some great moments, that would otherwise be lost.

Here are some of my favorites from the day.

More pictures from the wedding and rehearsal can be seen here.
