Almost 2 years ago, while out walking along the river, I stumbled across a beaver dam and a couple of beavers. I slowly got closer and closer to them, and over the course of about a half hour I was lucky enough to get within 5 feet of one of them. It was awesome to say the least!
Since then, I have been to the spot several times, and although it is clear the beavers are still there, I have not seen a single one.
I don’t know what possessed me to head down to this part of the river tonight, but I am sure glad I did. I saw at least 3 different beavers, and by playing my cards right and planting myself on the bank of the river, I had one come up out of the water right beside me!!! It was so cool!!! (Okay – he was 5-10 feet away, but still close!)
Unfortunately, I didn’t have my zoom lens with me tonight, and had to settle for the 100mm instead. Still, it was totally worth it!
He was only beside me for about a minute, before he dove back in the water and swam up the river again. Beautiful though, isn’t he?
He is so cute! Glad you were able to get some photos – great timing. I’ve actually have never seen one here.

Very cool! A few years ago I was out on my dock and one came swimming across the lake and got out right in front of me. Of course I did not have my camera.
