Happy Monday everyone! It is a holiday here in Ontario, so I am enjoying a lazy day at home.
I have spent much of my weekend lost in the You Are Your Own Muse e-course. Lost in a good way. I spent Friday evening, and Sunday morning in front of the camera. This is something I have only tried a few times, with very limited success.
The first picture I took in May 2009, shortly after I got my camera and remote. It was an exercise to satisfy my curiosity. I was pretty frustrated with the entire process, and very disappointed. I got just one image I was comfortable using.
The second picture was taken in April 2010, in response to a daily prompt from a course I was taking. Again, I was disappointed. This was the best shot of the ones I took, and that isn’t saying much.
These experiences really turned me away from the idea of self portraits. Other than taking the occasional shot on my BlackBerry, I figured it wasn’t for me. That was until I came across Vivienne’s course.
I’m not really sure what has changed, but for once I am really happy with the self portraits I have been taking. Some of them leave me feeling a little bit exposed, but happy none-the-less. I seem to be more willing to accept myself than before, and am finding good in many of the shots.
I can’t believe it is me in these pictures, or that I took them all myself.

Krista, these photos are amazing! I really admire you for turning the camera on yourself. And seriously – that first photo with the light on your hair is spectacular!
You should be proud. I hate doing SP’s, but yours are fabulous. I absolutely love the last one.

I love these portraits you took of yourself. I only took a handful portraits of myself but never really dove into it. I have to confess I am a bit nervous about it, not sure why. You did inspire to try though!
